Log on to your FrontPage Web for first time on a machine:

  1. Start FrontPage
    1. If FrontPage appears on your desktop, just double-click on the icon
    2. If you don't see a FrontPage icon then:
      1. Click on your "Start" button
      2. Move your mouse pointer up the menu until it is over "Programs"
      3. Move your mouse over into the field to the right of "Programs"
      4. Search in that field for the FrontPage icon.
    3. If you still haven't found it in either of these places, FrontPage is most likely not installed on your machine.
  2. Click on the "File" menu item on the menu at the top of the window.
  3. Move your cursor over the "Open Web" option and click.
    1. If you don't see this option, move your cursor over the double-chevron at the bottom of the menu. This item looks like two v's; one on top of the other
  4. Now, a new window should appear. In the field beside "Folder name" type in your website address. For example, you might type in “http://cstl-cla.semo.edu/YourName” in this field (minus the quotation marks).
  5. In the new screen that appears, type in your CSTL username (also known as your FrontPage username) and password into the appropriate fields.
  6. Click on "Open" again.

FrontPage Training

Both the CSTL and Computer Services offers training with FrontPage. More information about the CSTL's workshops can be found here and more information about Computer Services' workshops can be found in this location.

FrontPage 2000 lessons are available from Microsoft; users can obtain useful documentation about the program and its uses in education from the In and Out of the Classroom website. The site contains a nice introduction to FrontPage and downloadable documentation that can help you improve how your web looks and functions.

You should now be ready to go on to Step 3.
