Creating a Course Calendar

One of the most common elements to any web-supported or online course is the calendar, or course schedule of events. To create a new Calendar, first open up the OIS Manager. Then, click on the 'Calendar' button at the bottom right corner (ex. 1).

ex 1.

Calendar should now start up. Once loaded, click on the 'File' menu option and choose 'new'

ex 2

Open the class folder, then give the file a name.

Now, double click on the day to add an item to it.

On this screen choose the type of calendar item (appointment, task, or an announcement). The differences between these items is a bit specific; appointments are specific meetings, a task would be something for a student to complete and an announcement is a general, day long message.
Each of the three types of items have different sub-item types which can be accessed by the drop down menu to the immediate right.

Below the body box of the item is an optional hyperlink location for this item. Type in the text you would want the hyperlink to display in the 'URL Text' whereas the 'URL Link' field would have the actual hyperlink typed in.

Click on 'Save/Close' to close out this calendar item. After adding all the calendar items, be sure to choose 'File' and then 'Save' to save the calendar. This will update it on the web for the students to see.
