From the beginning, the program was designed to work with Excel and other spreadsheets as these programs are widely used by instructors to manage and store grade information. The newest version of GradeA maintains this familiarity by using an Excel-like spreadsheet to keep all grade information. Instructors can use the freedom and flexibility of Excel to create and manage their grade books with GradeA making all information available to students via web browser, protected by features such as encryption and passwords. The easiest way to create a gradebook for your class is to use the Create from Template wizard. The next graphic shows how to create a gradebook using this method. First, go to File | New | From Template 1 to open the wizard 2. Click next to advance to the next screen, where you will select a template from the options stored on the server 3. The next screen shows you a list of OIS classes 4 (as defined in the Class Manager), from which you will select one. Then, the wizard will ask you for a filename for the new gradebook 5. Finally, you select whether or not you want the wizard to insert your students’ information automatically 6 (this can be done manually as well, but the wizard can save a lot of time). You are now ready to go to the next step. Click finish 7 and you will see a screen that looks like figure 8. At this point, you can change the gradebook, adding or removing rows and columns to fit your class grade keeping needs.
