Instructional Web
Servers The Office of Instructional Technology
within the Center for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning maintains cutting-edge Internet
servers to be used by faculty for instructional purposes. Currently
three powerful machines are in charge of serving Web content and handling applications such as online gradebooks, online testing,
Web conferencing, and mailing lists. All faculty on campus who
want to use Internet technology in the classroom are highly encouraged to contact us in
order to get support in developing an effective course Web page.

Data
Safety: PowerEdge servers with redundant data storage system prevent system
failure and protects your valuable data in the event of system error.

These are some of the advantages to keeping
your course pages on the CSTL servers:
- The University charged the CSTL/OIT with installing
and maintaining Internet servers for instructional use. CSTL users not only get the
best services but also are fully supported by the University.
- Server space granted on demand. It means that you'll get
the space you need to develop your web supported/Web-based
class project.
- We keep your data safe through an
advanced backup scheme and server mirroring system so you don't need to worry about carrying
disks with backup copies of your pages everywhere. We provide the best technical
services to give you time to focus on your work.
- We can password-protect any or all your
directories so only authorized people can see the contents. Secure connection directories (HTTPS) are also available upon
request so you can make forms that retrieve sensitive data from your students in a safe
way.
- You can download and use the
Online
Instructor Suite software to handle your Web site's
interactivity.
- The CSTL provides fast support to help you with your projects. Online, in
person, or by phone.
