How do I add a gradebook, online testing, calendar or discussion forums to my course Web site? If you already have a CSTL account, you can download and use the Online Instructor Suite (OIS) from our server. OIS will allow you to configure your class with a password-protected folder, a gradebook (GradeA), online testing (UTest), a class calendar, and threaded discussions (Forum). Click here for more information about OIS.
My username and password are not working, or I forgot them. Can you tell me what my password is? Unfortunately, all passwords on the CSTL server are now under the Southeast Key system and cannot be seen by us. If your password is not working, please contact the HelpDesk:
Passwords ARE case-sensitive, so make sure you are typing the password in the correct case (make sure CAPS LOCK light is off). I am having trouble opening my online course in FrontPage. I type in my username and password but FrontPage says my account is invalid. What should I do? Check your username and password for correctness (see above). Also, if you are trying to access a sub-Web (e.g. /2002spring/ui100 or /2002summer/ui100), please follow these instructions on how to open a sub-Web for the first time. If the problem persists, please contact us.
I accidentally deleted/overwrote a very important file in my web site. Can you help me recover it? We perform daily backups on tapes and DVDs and keep one full backup monthly so we can recover important files dating back 12 months. In addition, all files are synchronized twice a day with a temporary backup area. If your file has been deleted within days, we can restore it quickly from the temporary backup area. If the file has been deleted weeks or months ago, we can restore it from a tape or DVD, provided that you give us a date when the file was present. Please call us at 651-2298 for more information.

My students can't log on to my course to see protected files, take tests, check grades or see the calendar. What is happening? Make sure that the OIS links (the ones that link to /ois-bin...) are on a page within the course folder. For example, if you created the OIS class inside a folder named "UI100" then make sure that the links to OIS are on a file within this folder. Read more about the directory structure here.
The CSTL provides a Real Media server to handle audio and video online. Just bring your VHS, DVD or CD video in and we will convert it to a Real Media file for you and add it to the streaming server. Students will be able to watch the video using the free RealPlayer program. Read more about streaming audio and video here. |
