Knowing a few faculty members well enhances students’ intellectual commitment and encourages them to think about their own values and plans.

• Get to know your students
• Contact each student during the first few weeks of class
• Ask students to get to know each other/work with each other
• COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS CANNOT BE REQUIRED BEFORE THE CLASS OFFICIALLY BEGINS
• Keep online Assignment List updated and current
• Make weekly assignments
• Require several smaller point value assignments at the beginning of the class which utilize each of the "unique" components (online)
