Optimize your images before putting them on the web.
Image Optimizer 4.0

Use CSTL cameras if you are going to be using the CSTL lab to upload pictures to your web .  If you use your camera, we may not be able to support it.  Some cameras come with smart media which allows for quick transfers of images between the camera and the computer .

Play with the camera and see what your pictures are being saved as.  Most cameras will automatically save pictures as .jpeg.  Check your quality settings for file size.  If a picture is larger than 100KB, it will take a lot of optimization to make it work for the web.  Use Photoshop or some other form of image optimizer for creating thumbnails and more downloadable images .  Saving a picture as a .gif is good if text is present in the picture.
