Welcome to the
Streaming Video and Audio Workshop

CSTL Wired-Wednesday Workshop

What is it?
Streaming Video and Audio is a way to bring multimedia presentations into the classroom or deliver it to students online.
Why should I do it?
Because it's cool
Because it lets me deliver content I otherwise couldn't
Because it lets me deliver information in a different way
Because I keep control of the presentation, which might be important in terms of copyright law
Because it's easy
Examples
streaming audio
movies/videos online
Note: if you have audio or video that you want streamed, just bring it to CSTL and they will do it for you.
The best use, though, is to be able to make your own Streaming PowerPoint shows:
Some examples, with lessons learned, from using streaming PowerPoint over the years:
think about introduction slides.
prepare a script, don't just, ah, talk.
use more images/slides than you would in class (no more than 30 seconds per slide).
try not to talk through slide transitions.
make sure you record in a relatively quiet place.
be prepared for students to have problems.
Currently we have to use Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint to stream PowerPoint presentations at Southeast (because it's free). So, what does it do?
Video plus narrated slides
Just narrated slides
How do you do that?
