Working with Dynamic Web Templates in SharePoint Designer 2007
Definition
Dynamic Web Templates are web pages that can be created to work as templates for other web pages. When a dynamic web template is set up regions of the page are set as either editable or non-editable when a new page is generated using the dynamic web template. This capability stops the user from accidently making changes to portions of a website that should be consistent across all pages.
Don't worry, dynamic templates are simple to set up and can even be set up for you by CSTL.
Why use dynamic web templates? Why not just modify each web page individually?
Dynamic web templates are useful for reducing edits that accidently modify elements of a web page that are supposed to remain consistent across pages. They also make changing these elements on all web pages based on the template quick and easy.
We'll create a dynamic web template and learn more about how it works to see if it may be useful on your class website.
