Introduction to Online Instructor Suite Modules
Monday
, June 8, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM (Kent Library Little Theater)

Description: This workshop will introduce participants to all Online Instructor Suite applications. Topics covered include: adding online discussions to an existing website, making tests and quizzes available to students, using a calendar to organize assignments, and creating an online gradebook for the class. Participants must have a working OIS-enabled web site or have attended either Course Web Site Design with SharePoint Designer and OIS Manager or Creating a Fully Functional Class Website in 3 Hours workshops.

The Modules add OIS functionality to the Web pages that your students use. We'll explore four OIS Modules today:

1. Forum (Mike leads): You can host a threaded discussion, give your students a place to vent, or make important announcements online.

2. UTest (Kevin leads): Assign graded student tests and quizzes online and, with a little creativity, collect student data with this Module.

3. Calendar (Mike leads): Organize your course chronologically. If you have even a little SharePoint Designer (or FrontPage) expertise, you can even teach your entire course from Calendar!

4. GradeA (Kevin leads): Surveys have shown that students are more enthusiastic about getting grades online than any other Internet-based technology enhancement.

Don't forget that OIS also offers DropBox and Chat for even more functionality!
