GradeA

Return to Main Page

This page contains the instructions for the GradeA exercise for the workshop.  I have used NOTE: whenever something is not directly related to the steps necessary to complete the exercise.

The purpose of this exercise is to open a template included in GradeA and make minor modifications to this template.

NOTE: You should have already posted a link to your class website that links to GradeA using "/ois-bin/gradeasrv/gradeasrv.dll" if you have not, you will need a link to GradeA to have access from your website to the grade book that you create in this exercise.

1. Open GradeA either from the desktop or from the launch icon in Manager.

NOTE:  If requested, enter your password which is your SE Key and the same password you use for your e-mail.

2. Go to the File menu and select New from Template.  You will then see the GradeA New File Wizard.

3. Select next on the first screen.  On the second screen select the first template: Assignment, Insert Column, and Total Pts.

4. Select next on the second screen.  On the third screen select the class to which you want this grade book to refer and click next.

5. On the next screen type in a name for your grade book and click next.

6. On the next screen leave the "Please insert..." item checked and select next.  On the final screen click finish.

7. You will then be asked which section(s) to include.  Select what you want and choose OK.

NOTE:  Your template is now ready to modify.

8. Select the insert here column by clicking on the letter above the column (probably E).  When the column is selected it will turn gray.

9. Go to the Insert menu and choose columns.  A new column will appear to the left of the original columns with the same formatting as the column to its left.

10. You can enter a third assignment into this column with its information and the grading will automatically update to include this new assignment.

11. Update the information in the item graded, date, and possible points rows to match assignments in your class.

12. Save your file by clicking on the save icon on the menu bar, selecting Save from the File menu, or typing Ctrl-S.

13. Steps 8 thorough 12 can be repeated to add any number of assignments.

Congratulations, you have successfully completed this exercise.
