If you are interested in joining the Model United Nations club at Southeast Missouri State University, please meet or contact one of our staff members.  Our office in Carnahan Hall is located on the second floor, 211J.

The Model United Nations of Southeast Missouri State University is comprised of Southeast Missouri State University students from a variety of disciplines who believe in the basic premise of the United Nations, ensuring peace and stability in the world, and who are dedicated to furthering their understanding of the role of the UN in the world today as well as the complexities of international relations.  The group members pursue their goals by participating in several United Nations simulations a year.  These simulations allow our members to reach out to our community, to serve regional high schools, and to raise the level of international awareness on Southeast’s campus.

The first simulation is a high school Model United Nations Conference, the group co-sponsors with the Department of Political Science, Philosophy & Religion. The event is held each November in the University Center.  There are typically about 90-150 students who participate from 4-7 high schools throughout Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, and beyond.  Middle School students are also welcome to attend the conference.

In addition to running this conference, Southeast students take part in simulations of their own.  In the past Southeast students have taken part in simulations such as the Midwest Model United Nations, American Model United Nations, the Harvard Model United Nations, and the prestigious National Model United Nations.
