2007 Essay Contest                                  <-Back to the highschool page

ESSAY TOPIC:

As the world has become more connected through globalization, the United Nations has had to face many different challenges as it strives to uphold the goals of its charter.  What, in your opinion, is the greatest challenge the United Nations faces today?  Also, what steps could be taken to reduce this challenge?

In your essay discuss what obstacles the United Nations needs to overcome as it moves forward in this new millennium.  This question is not seeking an answer that deals with a specific country or conflict, but rather overarching problems which the United Nations faces when dealing with the world as a whole.
