Online Instructor Suite 5 It's been 10 years since we rolled out the first OIS modules, and now they are getting a facelift. In an effort to keep up with newer GUI trends and specifications, OIS clients are being updated to have a new look, sporting a Microsoft Office-style ribbon, Windows 7-ready skins and several other improvements designed to let users do more with fewer clicks. Here's a screenshot of OIS Manager on Windows 7: We realize that a new interface may look intimidating in the beginning, and we are doing our best to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible for all users. We are also changing the version numbering system. The upcoming OIS suite will be called OIS 5.0, and all clients will have version numbers like with 5.0.x.yyy. This was necessary to avoid confusion, because we had some clients (like GradeA) already in version 4. OIS 5.0 installation is easier, more streamlined: another change is in the way that users install and configure OIS for the first time on new machines. The OIS Config application is gone, and Manager is now able to detect, download and configure itself based on user and profile information from the server. You can get up and running in seconds. What will happen to the old OIS clients? They will still be available and supported. However, the old clients are not being updated anymore, so bug fixes and new features will not be available for them. |
