Not sure how to use the equipment?

Our student techs would be happy to teach you how to use the equipment. If you would like ideas on how to enhance your lectures with the following methods, our instructional designer can offer suggestions. You may walk-in to work with the student techs or the instructional designer or call ahead to schedule an appointment.

CSTL offers video taping for instructional purposes. We can come to your class or special presentation and do the taping for you. Please call a week or more in advance to make sure the camera and staff are available.

Camtasia is video-based screen capturing software program. It is available on the computers in our lab and on all of our checkout laptops. Screen capture videos can be recorded with or without voice narration. Greenshot is a useful free utility that allows for only screenshot; no video. Screen capture videos can be recorded with or without voice narration.

Video – We have a Sony HD Camera that is available for checkout. We can also arrange to film events for faculty using our Canon XA-10 HD Camera.

Photography

We have a nice high-end Sony DSLR camera here in the office. Although, we do not let faculty rent this out, we can arrange to have photos taken by one of our student techs.

Photo Editing - We offer Adobe Photoshop CS6 to use in our lab. The laptops do not have the program.

We have a MP4 Streaming server that has space available for faculty to make videos available for streaming online. Videos must be encoded using the MP4 format with settings specified for our server. We can encode videos for use on our server at our office in Kent Library suite 305.
